A great place to stay!
The Cider Barn at Cheneys Farm, Honiton, Devon dates from around 1600. Cider apples were pressed and fermented here to make farm cider. The original cider press has been renovated and installed in an adjoining building, but alas, the apple trees are long gone.
The Cider Barn has been carefully renovated by local craftsmen to a very high standard creating a luxurious two-bedroom centrally-heated cottage in an idyllic setting on a working farm near Honiton. The generously proportioned ground floor features an open plan kitchen with a separate dining and lounge area. The kitchen contains a built-under oven and ceramic hob, fridge and microwave. French windows lead to a paved Sun Terrace and flower bank and lawn at the rear of the property. Upstairs are two large bedrooms, one with a King size bed, the other with two singles. The bathroom has a bath with shower over. High chair and travel cot are available if required. Outside is a concrete parking and barbeque area.
From the front of the property open fields lead down to the River Otter and Langford Bridge (a listed structure). There are magnificent views across to Dumpdon Hill (National Trust) and the beautiful Otter Valley, part of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The Cider Barn is conveniently located 1 mile from the centre of the East Devon market town of Honiton, which has numerous antique and other specialist shops, approx 10 miles from the sea (a choice of beaches at Seaton, Sidmouth, Beer and Branscombe), the Jurassic Coast (a World Heritage Site) and for walkers, the South West Costal Path.
